Billiards Training Aids to Help Your Game
Thursday, April 16th, 2009Many people enjoy playing billiards and want to play better at the game. That is where billiard training aids come in. There are many different aids on the market to help sharpen your billiard skills. The Accushot helps you learn the technique and importance of a good, straight aim. With this training aid you place the small electronic device on the far rail of the billiards table. On the front of the Accushot device you will see an illuminated target bar. That is what the player wants to aim for. On the front of the Accushot are three indicators: a left arrow, a center bull’s eye and a right arrow. Utilizing high tech, infrared optics and microprocessor, this device will calculate where the cue ball hits the rail in relation to the target bar and illuminates the appropriate indicator and arrow. It also has a built in speaker and gives a specific tones for each condition (left, right and bulls eye hits). It’s really quite simple, but sophisticated, as well. You can also purchase specialty cue balls to help you learn. Certain practice balls actually give you immediate feedback after each shot. Some practice balls come with a black band, a ‘contact zone’ and a center spot. If you hit the black band it will reveal off-center shots by wobbling. The center spot is used to check stroke accuracy. This is a highly effective tool if you want to improve your game!
A Trick for a Great Billiards Game
Wednesday, April 15th, 2009If you are trying to sharpen your game of billiards, you may be overwhelmed with the number of instructional books and articles for various ways to increase your skills. What you need to realize is, a good pool player did not get that way by reading books. Most players that are serious about billiards became good players by practicing and focusing on advice that can actually be applied to the game. Every person has one dominant eye. There is a simple test to determine which one it is. You should pick an object and focus in on it. Next, create a frame around your face with your hands. Keep the object in the center of the frame your hands are making. Close one eye and determine if that object is still in the center. Repeat with the other eye closed. With your dominant eye, the object will remain centered, but, when looking with your non-dominant eye, you may just see your hand, not the object at all. Always line up your aim with your dominant eye. You will be surprised at how well your game will improve when you use your dominate eye and now you understand why many good players close one eye before making that shot.
Decorate Your Game Room for Billiards
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009When it comes to the home, women tend to decorate it to please them. When it comes to the game room, women need to think outside the box and decorate it a little more masculine. If at all possible it may be a good idea to actually include your man in the decorating, or at least get him input or suggestions. There are certain supplies that will be most important to include in your new billiards inspired game room. Of course, you will need a pool table. Everything else will be centered around that. You will need a rack for the pool cues, chalk, and a good set of billiards balls in order to play the game. The room should be decorated to look like a pool hall. A low hung light above the center of the table gives off a good vibe. Grab some wooden furniture with thick legs in dark wood colors to give the feel of a neighborhood bar. Tall stools are a good choice. Serve drinks in short glasses or large frosty beer mugs. Having bowls of peanuts strategically placed on tables near guests is also a fun idea.
