Beginners and pro alike can benefit from having the right pool cue for them. There are many styles and types of cues out there. It is important to know what to look for when buying your pool cue and nothing beats a hands-on approach. Don’t hesitate to shop around, testing the weight, the feel, the feel of it in your hands. Just keep a few things in mind while you are shopping for your pool cue. Know your price range, which can range from fifty to up to thousands of dollars. Be aware that production cue sticks are mass produced and custom are handcrafted. While custom sticks will run you more money, it will be crafted for your measurements. Hand size and arm length are key factors in picking the right cue. Material of the pool cue will not only affect the looks of the cue, but the weight and how it will perform. While wood is heavier than other materials it is much more sturdy and resistant to warping. And perhaps the smallest feature, but one you can not overlook is the tip. Make sure it is round, rather than flat then choosing a hard tip for control and power, and a softer one, allowing you to give a bit more “English” to your shot.
